PSAT (Preliminary SAT)
A practice version of the SAT that helps measure skills important for college and career success, typically taken in 10th and/or 11th grade. It helps students prepare for the SAT, identify areas for improvement, and qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Program. At WCS, it’s required for all 11th graders (free) and encouraged for 10th graders ($TBD) and is administered onsite.
The test connects students to colleges, scholarships, and personalized SAT practice on Khan Academy. It also helps identify AP courses that match students’ strengths, giving an advantage in college admissions and the chance to earn college credit. More information can be found here: The PSAT/NMSQT – SAT Suite | College Board
SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test)
A standardized college admissions test that measures reading, writing, and math skills. An increasing number of U.S. colleges are again considering SAT scores as part of the admissions process. WCS provides onsite SAT test administration to WCS 12th graders. More information can be found here: The SAT – SAT Suite | College Board
ACT (American College Testing)
Another widely accepted college admissions test covering English, math, reading, and science reasoning, with an optional writing section. Students can submit either ACT or SAT scores to colleges. More information can be found here: ACT | College and Career Readiness Solutions
AP (Advanced Placement) Exams
Subject-specific exams that allow high school students to earn college credit or advanced placement in college courses if they score well. AP courses also demonstrate academic rigor to colleges. WCS provides onsite AP test administration for all AP courses offered onsite at WCS, as well for AP VHS courses taken by WCS students.
