WCS High School Drama presents The Best Christmas Pageant Ever on December 4-5 at the Nehemiah Center for the Fine Arts.
When the regular pageant director, Mrs. Armstrong, breaks her leg, a flustered mother named Grace Bradley is forced to take over the local church’s annual Christmas pageant. To make matters worse, the unruly, delinquent Herdman siblings (Ralph, Imogene, Leroy, Claude, Ollie, and Gladys)—known as the worst kids in town—invade the church and bully their way into all the major roles. Their rough interpretation of the Christmas story (such as thinking the Wise Men are “dirty spies”) causes total chaos and panics the community. However, during the actual performance, the Herdmans bring an unexpected sincerity, raw emotion, and fresh perspective that redefines the holiday for the whole town.
