A two-time Telegram & Gazette Runner of the Year, Thumann capped off a tremendous career for the Crusaders with the school course record, as well as school records in the mile (4:23) and the 2 mile (9:22). Thumann, who is a four-time T&G all-star in cross-country, has posted personal records in the 2 mile (9:13) and 3.1 miles (15:29). He enjoys videography in his spare time. Thumann will attend Northeastern University in the fall. Thumann ran a 9:13.52 at the Redtrack Trials at Cushman Park in Fairhaven last October, which qualified him for the National Scholastic Athletics Foundation Outdoor Nationals High School Championship meet from June 30 to July 3 at historic Hayward Field at the University of Oregon in Eugene. He is the son of Joseph Thumann of Sterling.
