From the concerts to the Christmas card design contest, students are using their excitement and talents to welcome the season.
On Friday evening, WCS hosted its annual Christmas concert. Middle and high school bands, choirs, and orchestras played a mix of traditional and contemporary Christmas carols and hymns. Directors Derek Wielsma and Zach Surapine thanked the families and the school administration for their commitment to the arts at WCS. WCS is also grateful for Valley Chapel’s hosting of the concert.

On Saturday, several orchestra members joined an elementary choir to perform at the Festival of Trees in support of the Blackstone Valley Emergency Shelter. “What a great day!” said elementary music teacher, Shannon May. “Our Strings students were sensational under the direction of Zach (Surapine) and Tammy (Kaye, Strings instructor). I’m thankful to Laurie VanderBaan, our accompanist. Our Christmas Choral students did a terrific job.”
This week, the school also hosted a tree lighting event and elementary students performed Christmas County Spelling Bee. Special spirit days and chapels will also celebrate the season.
